Every year the rules of Google changes and so do the rules of SEO. As blog or website owners, we try every trick up our sleeve to optimize our blogs, websites to get in the good books of Google Penguin and Panda. But, alas!! Fortunately or unfortunately Google thinks a step ahead of us. Like a psychic or something, it knows that we will try all the old tricks in the book to optimize our blogs and websites. It is for that reason it lays a set of rules; a set of dos and dont's. So, what are the Google SEO Rules of 2013?
Before we learn about it, let's just learn a tad bit about what really is seo consultancy. What does SEO mean? The abbreviation SEO means Search Engine Optimization.
What is Search Engine Optimization?
Known to increase search engine results page (SERP), Search Engine Optimization aka SEO is the method of optimizing a blog post or blog/webpage or a website. SEO involves using and implementing of strategies, tactics, techniques that will help blog/website increase its visibility in the search results of search engines like Yahoo, Google, Bing, etc and receive free, unpaid or organic traffic from search engines.
Google SEO Rules of 2013
1. Include keyword in your domain name: The domain name; the internet identity of your blog/website should include keyword in your domain. If for e.g. your blog/website is about dogs, then make sure it has the word(s) "Dog" or a word(s) related to dogs.
2. Include keyword in the web address of your posts: Did you know that Google Blogger and WordPress adds the title of your posts as the main link by default. And if your post doesn't contain any keyword or if you fail to see title of the post in the web address, then make sure you change the main link of your blog through the edit option.
3. Include keyword in the Meta Tags as well as in the body: One must use at least one keyword in the Meta Tags i.e. meta-title, meta-description and meta-keywords. In addition to this, include a keyword in the body content of the post. One must take care that the body content of the post isn't stuffed with many keywords. Oh! You can also use keywords in subheadings. If your blog is self hosted on WordPress, you can use "WordPress SEO by Yoast" plugin which will automatically do the keyword placement for you.
4. Optimize the images of your post: Every post should/does have images to complement it. So, the wise thing to optimize your post for SEO purposes is to optimize your images. And the best way to do it is to use the right or near perfect keyword(s). Always choose the best possible format for your images. Although there are lots of formats of images like JPG, PNG, GIF, etc. the best format is the JPG image format as it uses less size memory. Less size memory means less time needed to upload the blog and better search engine ranking and more traffic. Don't forget to add "alt tags" as well as "title" in every image that complements blogs. Don't ever use images that are huge in size. Before uploading a blog post, remember to compress the size of the image. You can either use Photoshop or use the online tool; Smustit plugin, for WordPress.
