Hi there,
I'm a new poster but I've enjoyed looking around this forum for quite some time. The reason for my post is that I've come across someone selling a very (potentially) nice piece of Paul Evans Cityscape furniture. I have not found anything similar online so I'm calling it a cabinet "trio." It's basically 3 cabinets that can be stacked on top of each other to create a 6' cabinet/shelving system or they can be individually wall hung. Pretty cool concept and I really love the piece, except it's in rough condition. As is typical w/ Cityscape pieces there are a number of squares lifting off and some are bent up pretty good. There are also some nice dings in some of the forward facing squares. Lastly it could use a good professional polish job.
The piece and I are in Philadelphia and I've having a hell of a time finding someone capable of repairing it, have spoken to 15 ppl or more. I found one guy who said he didn't want to do it but he'd consider it for about $3000 which to me was basically him saying "I really don't want to do this."
The current owner is asking $3500 for the piece as is which I believe is too high. If anyone has any insights regarding current as is value, potential repair costs &/or refurbisher recommendation I'm all ears and would greatly appreciate the help.
For some reason I was unable to embed the photos in the post and they are too large to attach. You can view photos of the piece with the following link to a Google Picasa Web Album:
